Doug DeVita's "Fable" opens in St. Pete this weekend, and runs through early-September.
"Fable" promises audiences the behind-the-scenes story of the Broadway classic “Gypsy” through the eyes of two siblings, June Havoc and Gypsy Rose Lee, as they battled to establish their legacies. A press release says the production dives into the sibling rivalry, and utilizes memory and truth, to offer a fresh take on the making of one of Broadway's most iconic musicals.
Led by director and freeFall Artistic Director Eric Davis, "Fable" will star Liz Power, making her company debut as June Havoc. Heather Baird returns to freeFall Theatre after starring in "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" as Gypsy Rose Lee.
The production also features freeFall regulars Bonnie Agan, James Putnam, and Mya Simpkins, alongside Broadway veterans Larry Alexander as Jerome Robbins and Melissa Minyard as Ethel Merman.
Tickets to see “Fable” on select nights between Aug. 9-Sept. 8 at freeFall Theatre in St. Petersburg start at $45.
